Jobs Jobs Jobs

with one comment

Lately all I’ve been doing is applying for internships for this summer at places where I can only dream of working. I’m wishing for the best and hoping that I will get a few interviews and maybe even a job offer.

Among others.

Wish me luck.

Awhile back I did an interview with a friend and got my pictures taken by Chelsi. Here’s the link and a few of them.

Hair and Flair

without comments

Last friday I got my first haircut at a barber…ever. My mom has cut my hair for the past for the past 19 years. Impressive, I know. It only cost me 10$ and Kirk, my barber, was super interesting. He’s clearly a veteran having cut hair for over 45 years.

a couple days before my haircut.

styled by kurt. right after the cut.

side view.

random facebook shot to show how i do it up. kind of hard to see.

so stoked for it to get longer for cooler styles.

Disney Day Two: Pinocchio

without comments

When you wish upon a star.

To start, this is a really late post. My marathon is currently on hiatus as school is more demanding.

I think that I was too quick to judge the earlier Disney animators in my previous post. The artists in this movie (mostly the same) did amazingly well. I’m not sure if the art was significantly better, or my opinion has simply changed but I was thoroughly impressed with the improvements. Geppetto looked great in comparison to Snow White and the animation was performed better too.

I was impressed most by the matte paintings in Geppetto’s workshop.

The overall messages behind the story are quite frightening, especially for a child’s movie! Although I’m sure these extreme methods will keep boys in shape, it is quite the deterrent from mischief. I know for a fact that Pleasure Island seems too good to be true nowadays, and refuse to get sucked in and turned into a jackass! However, I seem to have achieved that status all on my own already.

I look forward to continuing my marathon since it has been a long time since I have seen some of the movies, but school first!

Disney Dilemma

I must put my marathon on hold as pressing matters, school, call for the majority of my attention. It pains me to do this but it must be done.

Disney Day One: Snow White and The Seven Dwarves

without comments

Magic Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?

Last night I started off my Disney marathon with Snow White and The Seven Dwarves. It was weird to see the movie again after not having seen it in so long. I quite enjoyed it and did not remember all the songs. While animation itself has progressed much, it is weird to say that at some points the human figures were drawn quite, obscurely, for lack of a better word. I feel like the drawings in the more recent movies reflect human shapes much better.

It’s a good start to the marathon and brings back a ton of nostalgia. Excited to keep going!

It would appear that in 1937, the animators at Disney, and even the dwarves predicted the trend of the loose beanie/tuque.

Disney Marathon

Starting today I am going to watch one animated Disney movie a day until I’ve watched all of the released ones. I will be watching them in order too so let the fun begin! There are about 45 movies or so, so this will last until sometime in February.
