Steven’s Albums of 2008

with one comment

I saw this sort of post on another blog I came across so I will create something similar.

P.S. I’m not 100% sure when all the albums were released, so there may be some mistakes.

And let the list begin…in no particular order. I started writing blurbs but gave up.

1. …And a Happy New Year – The Maine

This album made me love The Maine super hardcore. My favourite song by far is Ho Ho Hopefully, of course all the rest are just as good. I discovered it just in time for the holiday season, it was wonderful.

2. Fortress – Protest The Hero

This album was killer by PTH. Every single song on this album was amazing and I liked them all. My favourite was Sequoia Throne before it became a single, and there were even a few remixes made which means…pwn.

3. Bone Palace Ballet: Grand Coda – Chiodos

This was a re-release of their original Bone Palace Ballet album but was still a great release. They included some acoustic songs and even some new tracks. Smitten For The Mitten was my favourite of the new ones. Overall this was another solid release by a kickass band.

4. Bring Me Your Love (Extended Edition) – City and Colour

5. Rotation – Cute Is What We Aim For

6. Introducing – Foxy Shazam

7. You Can’t Spell Slaughter Without Laughter – I Set My Friends On Fire

8. Skip School Start Fights – Hit The Lights

9. In Color EP – The Summer Set

10. Can’t Stop Won’t Stop – The Maine

And that’s my musical selection for ’08. Enjoy!

hellbent on heaven

So, over this break I had my mind smacked around a bit…especially with getting my exam marks back and what not. I have decided that a re-organization of my life is in order. That is why I have made a list of new year’s resolutions.

1. Go to class, study and do homework. (Not including computer science)

After getting such poor marks first term, I decided I should actually go to class, pay attention/take notes, study for exams and do homework.

2. Keep going to practice

Nearing the end of the year I was not feeling well/unmotivated and missed numerous practices. I tried to get back in shape for training camp over the break with my club and it was tough. After the rigorous training in Venezuala I decided to keep training hard to keep in shape.

3. Control Spending Habits

I got OSAP in November and spent a substantial portion of it quite quickly. I have decided to put a limit on my spending and very strict rules. I have way too many hats and clothes now…so not too many more.

4. Sponsor 1 New Band per Month

I want to start going more seriously with Static Wear so I am going to start hunting for new bands and contact them once my new designs are released. I already have a lengthy list of potentials.

5. Release 3+ New Designs per Season

I realize that I have so many ideas and they take forever to be released. Once I have finished paying for university I will use the remaining OSAP to stockpile a variety of designs so my webstore isn’t so plain. This includes expanding from just t-shirts too.

6. Practice Photography

One big ticket item I am looking forward to purchasing in the near future is a Nikon D40 camera. This is a decent camera so I figured I should actually have some photographical ambition before I purchase this. I purchased a DSLR before with massive failure so this time I plan to be prepared.

7. Set-up a Print Press

Come this summer, I plan to do the Ontario Summer Business program. I will attempt to get a grant to start a new business which will be a screen-printing company. This will benefit Static and provide much faster turnaround time.

8. Find Static Partner

Running Static Wear isn’t very hard, but I feel that a partner could provide very useful. I really want a designer since I’m not too creative, but I am fine with any help. I plan to find a partner this year if possible.

9. Attend Fresh Show

There is a tradeshow for street-wear type brands in March and September where big retailers go to find new products. My plan is to attend in September with Static. I am going to try to attend the show come March to see what the set-up is like and what exactly is required of me.

10. Static in Stores

One big accomplishment that I wish to have is getting my clothing in stores. Right now I need more designs released, but I plan to try to get my shirts into stores.

Those are the most important things I wish to accomplish this year. As well as 13…but that’s a sidenote.

Anyway, I hope other people have resolutions too and will try to keep to them.
