Wild Rose Country

without comments

As I sit in my grandma’s kitchen working on some updates for the website, sending out an email (with the 10 minutes of internet that I managed to salvage) and listening to some tunes, the idea of updating my blog finally crossed my mind.
I am taking a little vacation from home, out west in Edmonton for a week, off work and away from everything at home. I never knew how dependent I was on the internet until discovering my grandmother cancelled her internet a year or two ago…I miss it! Anyway, not much has happened in my two days of being here. Thomas and I went to Millcreek Outdoor pool. We saw lots of babes, but without my glasses I couldn’t be an accurate judge of their level of attractiveness. We went out to an Asian restaurant and witnessed a wicked storm as we ate the makeshift “Asian cuisine” placed before us. A combination of lack of sleep and the 2 hour “jet lag” forced to into a deep sleep at around 8 pm local time. Embarrassing.
The next day sporting my new glasses we went for a walk in search of the 7/11. Walking for over 25 minutes in the wrong direction lead us to the golden arches of McDonalds. Luckily it was only 10:00 so breakfast was still on. I feasted on some delicious hotcakes while my brother opted to take advantage of any size drink for a dollar, grabbing an extra large iced tea. Walking back home we played various games including walking as far as possible with our eyes closed or backwards.
Later today we went shoe shopping, checking out a Red Wing shoes outlet. After a short visit to Best Buy, my dad walked out triumphantly with a new iPod Touch in hand. Feeling up to speed with the new technology, we both forgot we still lacked internet, making his new purchase virtually useless since we don’t share the same musical taste.
Finally, we hit up Indigo books and I paid a visit to Starbucks to satisfy a perpetual craving for a Caramel Frappuccino. Our next stop was the movie theatre to see Pixar’s Up. Even seeing it for the third time, the story managed to draw tears. The movie is incredible and seeing it all three times was completely voluntary. So good!
A park visit was in order tonight where we had distance competitions while jumping off the swings. Now I sit in the kitchen, bored and waiting for our shopping trip tomorrow.
