Grow Past Their Promises

without comments

So today after work I was greeted by a lovely package in the mail.

I have been looking forward to getting this EP for a long time now. (I even got a signed poster haha) These boys make some wicked music. Grab yourself a copy now!iacas-1

Anyway, their singer is really good and the first time I heard them a while ago I was instantly hooked. Now they are back with a 6-Track EP filled with pure awesomeness. If anyone knows who The Dear Hunter is…their lead singer slightly reminds me of Casey.

lol at their jokes.

Layout

without comments

So i stayed up very late last night working on the layout of this site. It was pretty successful i’d say, looking snazzier now.

I went to my brother’s school on Wednesday and volunteered at their carnival. I was assigned to making cotton candy. There was a certain art to it but I would say I was pretty competent.

I also played some bouncy games.

to say the least we made alot of cotton candy.

Original Punk-ster

with 19 comments

Lately my music tastes have been going crazy. Today I had the random urge to obsess over The Distillers. So I decided to write this post.

Back in the day…like 1998 when I first started to listen to music, I liked to tell people I liked punk music. What did my punk music consist of?

Over the course of grade 3-6 the following bands cycled through my ‘punk-loving’ musical mind.

blink182

Blink 182 became my favourite band for the longest time.

green_day

I was a fan of older Green Day…until American idiot

simple-plan

Simple Plan was cool until all the 10 year old girls liked them…and I was 13.

Of course there were a few more bands but this is what I referred to as punk music. As I got older, so did my musical taste…sort of. I tried on some more classic punk music like these.

afi

Pre Sing The Sorrow A.F.I was pretty hardcore and raspy.

themisfits

The Misfits grabbed me with a few of their tracks, never loved them.

thedistillers

Finally, The Distillers whom I really liked.

After listening to these bands for a while, I realized all the raspiness and crude quality of music wasn’t to my liking. I moved on from this genre somewhat. I still like AFI, but the their more current albums (Sing The Sorrow and December Underground). The Distillers are in my opinion a great punk rock band.

the-distillers

Punk styles.

Not because I like them, or for a punk chick Brody is hot (maybe not in some pictures), but because their songs appealed to the masses and they developed quite the following. They had some popular tracks and released 3 albums.

Give them a listen. Its awesome.

This song is one of my favourites. My album of choice? Coral Fang.

feel the punk.

Walking.

without comments

The NBA Finals this year have been so exciting. Seriously, Orlando is taking the Cleveland to school, and its kind of embarassing.

Anyway, last week I went for a random walk to try out my new old camera, which I’ll talk about later. Here are pics from my digital camera, (The new old one is film).

Biking Back In Time

without comments

Two weekends ago my dad, brother and I went for a bike ride. We rode into some foreign land I deemed the past. It was weird, they spelled Shop like ‘Shoppe’ and the town had under 200 people. I’m pretty sure it was just one main road. I half expected there to be horse-drawn carriages and was astonished to see a CCTV security system in the ‘shoppe’.

May Long Weekend

without comments

In the spirit of posting my pics from this past month, my long weekend was filled with family fun.

This began with a trip to the drive-in. Not many pics…but we saw 17 Again, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.

Overall I liked the first the most. X-Men was pretty bad, the movie was cool…but if you think about it…it sucks. Ghost of GFP is just like A Christmas Carol except with hot women and Matthew McConaughey.

TCAF

A few weeks ago was the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. We ventured a good 50 minute walk from Union Station up to the Toronto Reference Library, through the on and off downpour.

It was pretty awesome…except when we got there, it sucked for us. We didn’t really know a single artist or any of the comics or anything. After a quick 20 minute walkaround we decided to head back. Thomas was a little angry for the waste of time, but luckily we had shawarma for lunch. Delicious. After that, we went to the Eaton’s Centre for a bit then headed home.

Right before we got to Union we decided to start our photoshoot, which began our 101 picture spree over the course of under an hour.

Here are less then half of the shots.

we are so cool.
