So…FIRST YEAR IS FINALLY OVER!!!

Just thought I’d let that out. But really…its not. Over the past week I have completely re-thought out my life and decided that I am switching into science. This means that I will actually do first year ALL OVER AGAIN, but oh well, this is actually what I want.

In other news…the weather in Oakville is really nice and permits me to go outside in whatever I feel like wearing.

Not much of a post today…kinda tired/busy.

DragonEvo is back in action and I’m going to be starting up Culture Shock soon. (secrets)

How I Met Your Mother

without comments

Over the past few days I have developed an obsession with one of the hottest new comedies on television, How I Met Your Mother. I had seen a few epsiodes here and there while surfing the channels but never really got into the show. While at home recently, my sister had purchased Season One so I watched a few episodes and ended up really getting into the show.

Since I have been back, last Friday night, I have watched Seasons Two, Three and all of Four that is available. The wonders of university sharing networks are both a blessing and a curse. I was able to access all of these seasons in the matter of hours, but as a result I spent countless hours just laying in bed glued to my laptop screen. As a matter of fact, I really only started watching the show on Monday, so in the course of 5 days I finished 30 hours of this show…while attempting to participate in other everyday activites.

A quick little blurb about this show. The background. Bob Saget narrates his life to his children, explaining how he met their mother; hence the title. Taking place in Manhattan, NY back in 2005, five friends gather every night at McLaren’s bar. This is where a good portion of the show takes place as they share the days events, Barney tries to pick up chicks and many other funny events occur.

Casted includes:

Marshall, an avid law student is played by Jason Segel from Forgetting Sarah Marshall which I found to be a really funny movie.

Lily, Marshall’s girlfriend and kindergarten teacher is played by Alison Hannigan, best known as “band camp girl” from the American Pie series. (Quick comment, she has become much prettier in my opinion since her teen American Pie days.)

Barney, the chic bachelor and business man is played by Neil Patrick Harris. The only place I know him from is Harold and Kumar.

Ted, the main character; an architect (and the narrator as voiced by Bob Saget) is played by Josh Radnor.

Last but not least is Robin, a news anchor for Metro 1 News and the last to join this group of friends. She is played by Cobie Smulders and is a fellow Canadian.

This show seems like it could be a new-age classic sit-com. I have become a huge fan and can’t wait to see the upcoming last few episodes. Each character is perfectly cast and each role plays an essential role in bringing this whole production together. Each episode presents a different scenario, that in most cases everyone is able to relate to in one way or another. Overall, I love the show and hope it lasts for a long time.

Rockin the 80′s Styles

with 2 comments

Last night I stayed up all night…or until 7 am just full of energy and not being able to sleep. I watched a bunch of How I Met Your Mother and did some more summer planning. I have decided not to do “Crowned Ink Studios”, but an entirely different venture. More info to come when it is further established.

I came across this picture the other day and thought I might share it because it is incredibly cool. This looks amazing and whoever came up with this idea is quite clever, although I do hope they did not eat the turtle, haha.

Today while approaching Loblaws I came across an interesting water pattern on the ground. It resembles a boy sitting on a ledge….just see for yourself I suppose.

While looking through some of my phone photos, I decided to post another few that I took of me and George. They are quite exciting.

Not much else new, I picked up a sweet ‘vintage’ parka from the old-school swim team at our university. I thought that they would be sweet and I would be able to rock it in a certain retro style…but it seems it may not be the case. Here is a look at it.

I also picked up some treats from Bulk Barn as they are closing and had a 50% off sale, so I will be able to indulge a bit over the next few days…or hours.

Lastly I’d like to mention that a rockin’ band from near my hometown, I Am Committing A Sin, just put up a new layout as well as a new song on their MySpace. Check them out because they are sweet and there EP will be released soon.

Makeovers

without comments

So the past few days have been quite boring and filled with “studying”. Upon my return to London I was faced with my math exam. This was remarkably easy but I can’t be sure. Most time I feel confident…I am greeted with a horrid mark. Anyway, I picked up a new crewneck from echelon at a stellar 70% off.

I have also been thinking alot about Static, the future, the Fall/Winter drop and a little secret side project. Overall there will be some craziness going on this summer, especially with the opening of “Crowned Ink Studios” as I have called my future printing studio. Plan to see some updates about this.

I started downloading HD movies and yesterday I watched my first one, Ratatouille, and I have to say that they are remarkable. The picture quality is insane so I have been on a splurge lately trying to pick up as many flicks as I can before the summer. I am in the process of watching 300 which too, looks beautiful.

I chose a new layout today for the blog because its nice and simple and that way I can include larger pictures without the layout getting all messed up.  I also organized my twitter webpage so check that out and be sure to follow me!

Not much else is new, I gave up on studying sociology because while flipping through magazines I decided that my brain was telling me studying was not important. I browsed the business section of Chapters, read up on Twitter and some other boring stuff. As well, I looked through some interesting magazines and have decided upon my future ambitions, which has helped me relax a bit. Especially knowing I don’t need to go to Ivey anymore…although all that means is that I have lost what little motivation to succeed in school.

Anyway, sorry for the long block of text. More interesting content coming up.

Back to London

without comments

So I recently got my dinky camera back so I decided to take some pictures on my trip home. Needless to say I am a complete travelling noob, allow me to explain. First off, while leaving Monday I did not realize I had purchased my ticket for the previous Saturday…weak. Luckily they took it and it did not cause a problem. I then missed the train cause the Greyhound was late so I had to wait in Hamilton for an extra hour before getting home.

Coming back today, I did not realize I bought my ticket for tomorrow (man I am genius). As well, the ticket vendor for the GO Train told me the wrong track but luckily I over heard the announcements. I made a mad dash and made it to the train with 10 seconds to spare. I got to ride in solitude…

At least upon my timely return (we arrived 75 minutes early) I got to enjoy this beautiful  day and grab some Starbucks and eat this Asian delicacy (in my opinion) known as mixed congee.

More later.

White People and some Amazing Talent

without comments

Today while browsing the web I came across the website “Stuff White People Like” which is quite a comical site. The front page to which I saw was “#124 Hating People Who Wear Ed Hardy” and all I could do was laugh. The majority of the people I see wearing this stuff are like ‘ginos’, asians and in general, jerks. Not your typical jock jackass, but more the ones who pop their collar and thing they are hot shit. After reading the whole article, especially the part ” I guess that douche bag had to get to a UFC party or a nightclub event he was promoting” I just lost it. This part seems so accurate that I was out of control.

ed_hardy

Anyway, not to say I hold a grudge against Ed Hardy or the people who sport it, its just such an odd brand; with the tattoo designs. Its just that I find the stereotypes for the most part accurate and find the personalities of most of these people…unappealing to say the least.

Today while browsing the web I was trying to collect things to talk about. This video here is completely and utterly amazing. I can’t embed it, but definitely click it. Basically, it is completely unexpected and I was in awe and I felt…so happy. It made me smile and I definitely think you guys should check it out. It proves that once again as the saying goes, ‘you can’t judge a book by its cover.’

Here is the link again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY

Not much else, heading back to school tomorrow for a good 11-13 more days.

Updates AGAIN

without comments

So let’s see…it’s been literally ages since I’ve posted. Everytime I post I make up excuses for not updating the site.

Basically I haven’t been motivated enough to update my blogs haha. I have so much free time I don’t even know what to do with it. So let’s see, what’s new with me?

I came home Monday for the week just to…check-in at home and search for some employment. I have found a few places I’m interested in and am dropping off my applications/resumés tomorrow.

I’ve also started working on my business plan for my new silk-screening business. I want to try to finish that this weekend when I’m back at school so I won’t have to worry about it later. I did some research and stuff so I’m  pretty prepared.

As for other summer plans? Surprisingly I want to volunteer at a retirement home this summer. I know I can get a job and work…but volunteering will look good on my resumé and I also really want to work in a retirement home. Don’t ask me why, but in a few years it may all make sense.

I have studied a bit at home, not really so I spend the majority of my time browsing the web and watching movies. I have recently gone on an independent film binge and have enjoyed all of them. I’ll try to post another review or two tomorrow, but I actually plan on studying.

Overall things have been good and I’ve been doing more work on Statics Fall Winter 09/10 release. It will sweet deals. I’m stoked for Friday when I go back cause I kinda want to see this art thing happenin’ at Echelon. They are having a mural painted and hosting an event to watch it live and getting painted.

Not much else to say, just checking in.

Worst Day ever…made a bit better.

without comments

So over reading week my ordered business cards/hang tags arrived and UPS attempted 3 times to deliver but I was at home so I had to go to UPS today. Let me just say…mission and a half and to add insult to injury I had to pay customs. Let me explain why my day rocked so much.

Here is a map of where I had to go.

map

The estimated time was 23 minutes BY CAR for a distance of roughly 10 miles. Of course, I had to bus/walk so this 23 minutes I expected would be 3 hours round trip. Boy was I wrong.

At 11 AM this morning I left for my trek, not know what I was getting myself into. I took the bus to stop 1 and transferred to the 13A Wellington to get to White Oaks Mall. Of course, the 13A takes 15 minutes of detours compared to the 13 regular. So we finally get there at around 11:55 and as I get off the bus, I ask the driver how often the 30 Newfield or something comes.

“Oh, it doesn’t start until 2 o’clock PM”

and I think to myself “WOW! Wtf. This is so stupid”.

Bus driver. “Oh, but I can take you to Wellington and Exeter Rd.”

Exeter Road sounded familiar on the map so I accepted and rode the bus. I got off at about 12:00 and I saved about…2 minutes of walking. Now, here I am at Wellington at Exeter with my makeshift map (I was out of printer ink). Of course I didn’t draw where I am now so I just blindly follow all of the Route 30 stops until I find myself officially lost. At this point its about 12:50. I call George for directions, after finding the nearest house for MapQuest, I get directions to UPS. I start my hike again and finally find UPS after circling for a few minutes.

JUST MY LUCK! I walk up to the door and read “Sorry! We’re Closed. Back at 5:00″ and I think to myself. FML, for real though. Its only 1:15 and I just spent 2 hours and 15 minutes getting here. There is no way in hell I’m coming back any other day so I just decide to wait.

Oh, and in this part of London (my whole walk) there are no sidewalks so I walk the whole way in the snow on the grass or on the road into oncoming traffic. Wonderful.

I find a Tim Horton’s only to remember I deposited all my cash yesterday. I scrounge up enough cash to buy a Vanilla Dip donut and savour it for….2 minutes. I saw an un-rolled Roll Up The Rim cup at the next table. Being the cheapass I am I planned on snagging it. There were people around so I hesitated and decided to wait it out. After about 5 minutes the cleaning staff came and took the cup. DAMN! I thought to myself.

I managed to wait…about 30 minutes from walking to Tim’s and eating my donut. I hit the road again deciding to take the 30 BACK to White Oaks Mall and just chill. Remember, I am in the Warehouse district of London so there is nobody walking and everyone in their cars probably thinks I’m a bum. AND to make matters worse, the 30 doesn’t have normal stops, all of them are at random snowbanks, so here I am sitting in a snowbank for 30 minutes, my ass completely numb and the bus finally comes.

At this point I don’t even know what time it is, all I know is that I have been gone WAY too long and this trip is bullshit. I eat KFC and my day gets a bit better when I get a free extra chicken thigh hahahaha. Sad, I know. Anyway, I walk around the mall and just sit on benches until 4:25 when the 30 comes back. I take the bus back to UPS and meet a random fellow Westerner. We wait until 5 o’clock just talking, and I tell him that the 30 stops at 5:20 so we basically have to hurry or we have to walk back in the dark. Right before Five a Spanish lady gets out of her car.

She’s waiting for a package now too and we all just take and wait. She offers both of us rides to Westmount Mall on Wonderland which is a hell of a lot closer than where we are AND White Oaks Mall. We gladly accept then enter UPS as it opens. I get my package without trouble. This lady, unsure of what she’s getting is told to wait because they think its on a truck. My UWO buddy has the same problem. We wait and just talk when they bring out the lady’s package as they found it in the back. The guy has to go and unfortunatly the lady doesn’t have time to wait. Sad to say he gets shafted and I feel bad for him.

We get in the car and she makes a stop at a random house to pick up some Tamales (Mexican food). She gives me two of them which I found was very kind of her. We talked about Canada, school and a bunch of random stuff as she dropped me off. I took the bus home and got in around 6:35.

So, I spent over 7 and a half fucking hours picking up a measly 250 tags/cards. WASTE OF MY DAMNED TIME! But I got two tamales and met two random people. That made my day because they were both so nice, so thank you strangers.

That’s all. Getting in cars with strangers is probably dangerous, as is accepting food but I took my chances. I was cold, starving and tired.

-stay thug people.-

PS. fucken overnight prints made the back of the tags/cards upside down so that was kind of gay.
